৳19,800 or ৳23,000 for a 2-function bed? Both are beds we put our name and a 1-year warranty on. The ৳19,800 bed suits most home patients recovering over weeks or months. The ৳23,000 bed has a heavier punched-steel frame, heavy-duty crank gears, 125 mm castors and a 250 kg rating — for a patient who will be in bed for years it cranks smoothly for longer and keeps more resale value. Beds sold elsewhere at ৳17,500–19,000 look the same in photos but use thinner tube and weaker gears; we do not sell them.

What Does "Function" Mean on a Hospital Bed?

The first question most callers ask is "how many functions do I need?" — and many don't know what a function is. Each function is one movement the bed can make.

A 2-function bed stays at one fixed height. A 3-function bed goes lower than that — which is what makes lifting and transfers easier — and higher, which matters when the family members are tall.

Which Hospital Bed Do You Need?

Our simple rule after ten years of home setups:

• Patient is moved in and out of bed often (sits in a chair, uses a commode, goes to physio) → 3-function. The height adjustment saves the carer's back and the patient's dignity.
• Patient cannot get up at all (stroke, paralysis, late-stage illness) → 2-function is enough. Height does not help a patient who never leaves the bed; spend the difference on an air mattress instead.
• One elderly person is the main carer → 3-function electric. No cranking, and the remote lets the patient adjust the bed alone.
• Patient on a ventilator, BiPAP or high-flow oxygen at home → 5-function ICU bed, usually with our BiPAP and oxygen setup.
• Clinic, chamber or ward on a budget → plain or 2-function bed; for OPD see examination beds.

Manual vs Electric Hospital Bed

A manual bed is raised with hand cranks — like pedalling a bicycle. It works, but the movement is not smooth, and the patient feels every jolt. An electric bed moves by remote, slowly and evenly, so the patient feels nothing. That is why many families choose electric for a parent's final months: so they are not hurt every time the bed is adjusted.

Rent or Buy a Hospital Bed? The Mistake Most Families Make

Callers often cannot decide, and choose wrong. The rule is simple:

• Doctor expects 1–2 months of recovery → rent. ৳5,000 for 15 days or ৳7,000 for a month, no deposit, paid at delivery. Renewal is cheaper: ৳3,500 per extra 15 days or ৳6,000 per extra month. Delivery, setup, carrying upstairs, pickup and any repair are all our responsibility.
• Longer than 2 months → buy. Four months of rent costs as much as a bed. And when you no longer need it, we buy it back for 40–50% of the price and our own team collects it. A ৳23,000 bed used for a year costs you around ৳12,000 net.

Every rental bed that comes back is cleaned to hospital hygiene standards and stored under cover before it goes to the next patient.

"Heavy Items Are Not Allowed in Our Building" — We Carry It Up Anyway

Most Dhaka apartment buildings tell the manager or guard not to let heavy items upstairs. Many families know this rule and worry how a hospital bed will ever reach the 8th floor. You don't need to worry. We do not hand your bed to a courier at the gate — our own delivery team carries it up, 8th, 10th or 15th floor, with or without a lift, assembles it in the patient's room and tests every function in front of you. In the monsoon we have delivered through heavy rain with the bed wrapped in tarpaulin so not a drop reaches it.

Hospital Bed Delivery Outside Dhaka

We send beds to every district by courier; the charge is usually ৳1,000–1,800 depending on distance and bed weight. Assembly is simple and we send a step-by-step video; if anything is unclear we guide you on a video call. For a full ICU setup, or if you prefer, we can send a technician — you cover travel, meals and a ৳2,000 fee. Within Dhaka division or roughly 150 km, a pickup van can bring the bed and our team together for about ৳6,000–8,000 in transport.

Complete Home Care Setup Cost

Every adjustable hospital bed we sell comes with its mattress, side rails and saline stand, so you do not buy those separately. What else you need depends on how ill the patient is: a recovering or elderly patient needs very little, while a seriously ill patient needs a home ICU. These are the two setups we install most often.

Most families spend ৳23,000–46,000 on this setup, and the bed, table and wheelchair all come back to us under buy-back when the patient recovers.

Home ICU — seriously ill patient

A patient on oxygen, BiPAP or a ventilator cannot be nursed on an ordinary bed; the base is a 3-function or 5-function hospital bed, and the equipment below is added to it. We install everything in one visit and provide the nurses.

Why Every Bed-Bound Patient Needs an Air Mattress

Many families buy the bed and skip the air mattress — and call us weeks later about a bedsore. A patient who cannot turn themselves gets pressure sores on the hips, tailbone and heels within two to three weeks. Once a sore opens it is painful, slow to heal and often needs a doctor. An air mattress shifts pressure every few minutes and is the only reliable way to prevent this. If the patient is seriously ill and moves little, buy it with the bed, not after.

ফাংশন মানে কী?
